Watercolors By Winslow Homer2/16/2008 to 5/10/2008 Location: Art Institute of ChicagoEvent Information:American painter Winslow Homer (18361910) created some of the most breathtaking and influential images in the history of watercolor. This exhibition will provide an intimate look at how one of Americas most celebrated painters discovered for himselfover a period of three decadesthe secrets of the watercolor medium. Twenty-five spectacular Homer watercolors in the Art Institutes collection have been carefully analyzed using the latest conservation technologies. The works and the revealing associated research will be displayed in the context of over 100 watercolors, drawings, and oil paintings that explore the artists most important subjects and sites and his interest in color and light.
