It's a good value, as are many of the Hotels located on this strip of South Michigan Avenue, also known as the Cultural Mile of Chicago. Across the Street is Historic Buckingham Fountain, and Grant Park, often referred to as the the city’s “front yard.” It's home to many Concerts and Festivals during the summer month's, many of which are free.

Just North of the Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Soldier Field, and the Field Museum of Natural History. Move up North and there are some more value hotels, Essex INN, the Historic Hilton, and the Congress Plaza. The Blackstone is recently renovated and is more of a luxury property, so it will cost you a few more bucks than say the Hilton, or the Essex House.

The Blackstone became known as the "Hotel of Presidents," serving as host to a dozen U.S. Presidents, and is city's best example of a turn-of-the-century luxury hotel. The hotel was named for Timothy B. Blackstone, a prominent railroad executive and the founding president of the Union Stock Yard.
