Where Should I Stay in Chicago?

If you are new to the city and unfamiliar with the Chicago Neighborhoods, this is guide to help you find the best place when choosing a hotel. There are Pros and Cons to each area.

Hotels Near Lincoln Park:

Lincoln Park is a very vibrant neighborhood with tons of Bars and Restaurants. The hotels in this area tend to be smaller and there are not as many to pick from.

Hotels Near Wrigley Field

Similar issues as you move up towards Wrigleyville. Great Bars and Restaurants, but a little far from the touristy areas of the city. Smaller Boutique options. Just not a lot of options. If your in for a Cubs game it may be the right choice.

Hotels Near the Magnificent Mile:

As you move across the river into the North Michigan Avenue Area, you get into the most expensive part of town, the Mag Mile and all the Luxury Shops, near Bars, Restaurants. Hotels are expensive here, and the area stays busy well into the night.

Hotels Near Gold Coast:

North of the Mag Mile is the Gold Coast Neighborhood that is much quieter.

Hotels Near Navy Pier:

More towards the Lakefront near Navy Pier are some nice options, but if you want to walk to Michigan Ave its a few miles. Not a bad choice, some of these hotels have great Lake views and there is a lot to do at the Pier.

Hotels Near River North:

To the west, River North Hotels are more chain type. It's an area with great Restaurants and Bars, not within short walking distance to attractions, but a short cab ride will get you there. You can find some decent hotels at a good price here.

Hotels Near Downtown Loop:

The Downtown Loop area has many older and historical hotels. It is the business center of the city and has the Theater District. Transportation is easy to find and most of the activity is during the daytime. At night the area gets quiet. If you are in on business its not a bad pick, and if you stay towards the North end of the Loop you are close to Michigan Avenue. In for a night at the Theater - it's not a bad choice.

Hotels Near the South Loop:

The South Part of the loop is closer to the Museum Campus and Grant Park, mostly business and residential. It is a bit father away from some of Chicago's other attractions. As a result you can get some good deals on hotels in this area. Perfect for a Bears Game.
